Singapore top civil servant boasts luxury culinary course in Paris...then kena back fired!

The Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Environment & Water Resources took 5 weeks off from work and spent more than 40K to attend a French cooking course in Paris for his whole family and himself.

After coming back from the course, he wrote to newspaper to share (or boast) about his experience by disclosing the expenditure.

He then was kena lambasted by public for being insensitive of what he has done, considered he is a public figure and a leader in society. He was even criticised by a minister and fellow MP. Read the source here

What wrong he has done? I think he should not be so high profile in bad time like this. There are many people out there waiting for this opportunity to step on him to get attention and to climb higher. This is a kind of survival skill. Learn well!

Mas Selemat Saga, after 1 year....

After 1 year of futile searching, the Millions-Dollar-salary Home Minister has made a brilliant conclusion:

one, he is in Singapore and hidden by sympathisers unknown to the authorities, or, two, he has fled the country.

This is indeed brilliant!! I am speechless!!!

How is a ganster, who was sentenced to death, related to the Chairman of CK Tang?

The most famous gunman in recent Singapore history was hanged death. His kidney was donated to the Chairman of CK Tang, Singapore Tycoon Tang Wee Sung, who was jailed briefly due to a failed attempt to get kidney illegally. Finally, he got his kidney, from a man who committed to illegal acts.

I wonder if the rich fellow has ever imagined that one day he would be related to the ganster in this way?

Next, the GM kena fired (the news said he resigned), citing differences with top management.
Now, the management filed a police report on confidential information leaking on the resignation issue.
I am looking forward to the coming interesting episode. This could be more exciting than the little nyonya!!

GM of Singapore Flyer Kena Fired?

As published on Straits Times:
IN A shock move, Singapore Flyer general manager Steven Yeo - the public face of the attraction since the Dec 23 incident which left 173 people trapped on the giant observation wheel for six hours - has resigned.

He tendered his resignation on Monday, giving six months' notice.

But Flyer management told him to go immediately, and by yesterday afternoon, he had cleared out his desk.

So is it OK that I inteprete this as he was asked to resign? If he resigned, this would mean he got no compensations from the company. Or in other words, he just got fired.

Finally, one right thing is done. Of course somebody has to be responsibility for the incident. The one sitting on the top cannot be immuned of this. There got to be one scapegoat. Somebody's head got to be rolled.

But why there is no head rolled from the top level in the Mas Selamat case?

Don't not ever sit and close your eyes in MRT. You will be on camera!!

A popular website in Singapore, Stomper Scene, is obviously a menace to all MRT passengers who sit and sleep. The above photo was taken and put up in the website with a story telling the girl fell asleep while there was a pregnant woman standing next to her.
This is ridiculous!! Where is the proof? Who is the witness? Where is the pregnant woman?? The story teller is abviously naive and insensitive. If this is morally right to put a photo of a person without his/her consent and attach an untrackable story on it?
If this is OK, I will just snap a photo of any young passenger sitting with the eyes closed in MRT and put the photo on internet, telling this fellow immediately fell asleep once noticing an old man or pregnant woman standing in front. Isn't this easy???

Why run the Singapore Flyer when there is no expert here?

Foreign International experts are needed to investigate the fire accident of Singapore flyer which trapped 173 people for more than 6 hours on December 23.

This is to say there is no expert in Singapore to manage or to understand the A to Z of the world largest observation wheel here, yet we still let it handle hundreds of tourists everyday?

Obviously, money comes first, reputation is second.

Shameful Singapore Flyer trapped 173 tourists for 6 hours!!

Singapore obviously cannot stand the focus now is all on the new JB CIQ, and decided to setup a more dramatic story to snatch the attention.

Now we have, the icon of Singapore, Singapore Flyer, experienced a power outage and trapped over 100 tourists in the cabins for more than 6 hours. Most of them were only rescued after the power was only restored at 11:15pm.
"It is a very peculiar incident," the general manager of the attraction, Steven Yeo said of the latest case, which is under investigation.

He said some trapped passengers were "a bit disturbed" by the experience.
Yeah, Singapore Boleh!

It is more than chaotic to enter Singapore now!

The new Johor new CIQ has totally defeated the purpose by spending $1.3 billions to build a white elephant to cause suffering to its people.
This is by far the lousiest project by Malaysia government and it has become a laughing stock in Singapore. PM Abdullah Badawi said this is a landmark building of Johor. I call it the shame of Johor.

The mistake is made...and ignored.

In the end of September, Singapore government raised the tariff of electricity for 21% based on the projection that oil price would reach USD150 in 3 months. Now 1 1/2 month has passed. The petrol price dropped from then USD100 to today's USD57.

Singapore is always acting fast, even so fast that it acts for something has not yet happened. But for something has already happened (petrol price has dropped), nothing is done.

Good job!

Economy is bad. All clowns coming to town!

This uncle is most likely one of the 900 staff retrenched by DBS recently. Out of desperation, he tried to disguise himself as a Malay woman and to rob a UOB bank with a remote bomb, as he claimed.

I think he must learn from the real robbers in Malaysia, where heavy firearms are used. If he really wants to rob the bank, rob like a man lar! How come disgused himself as a woman??? Shame on you!!

Pregnant woman wants $1,600 2 months job?

Just watched a documentary from mediaCorp about a young Singaporean couple who are facing financial problem. They bought a 4-rooms flat, a car and hired a maid. Before the woman was pregnant and out of job, the combined income of the couple was 3k+.

The woman cried in front of TV, saying that no one wanted to hire her because of her pregnancy. Then it is very miserable that they have to hire the maid while they are now only depending on her husband's 2K+ (before CPF deduction) salary to maintain the car (1K+ a month) and the maid.

Then the TV host arranged a job interview for the woman in a travel agency. Knowing that she is to deliver in 2 months time, the employer offers $800 a month job to the woman. But the woman rejected the job because she wanted a $1,600 pay-check.

Is this really a reality documentary or a comedy? Couldn't stop laughing when watching this show. Thanks for the good work, MediaCorp!

Price hike is not arbitrary, people deserved to pay and pay

Read the news here.
So what the justification is estimation is way off? Government in end of Sept that the petrol price will hit USF150 in the coming 3 month. One month later, petrol price drops to 1-year low and below USD70.
So what? Yet our minister still proudly said that the price hike is not arbitrar. The minister even said that if not because of this price hike solution, people could even pay up more!! Simply impressive. You win liao lar and I am speechless.
Let's just listen to government and pay and pay, and then say "Thank you!"

Singapore's Projection of oil price:USD155 in 3 months, and charge you 21% more on Electricity bill!!

But the oil price has since dropped below USD90. I dunno which scholar came up such a brilliant projection and made all the commoners like suffering.
If such projection can be trusted, why not Temasek rushs to store the oil now and then sell off to make profit when it really reaches USD155??
